Tradition
I have a Christmas tradition. Every Christmas I buy a new pointsettia plant. I keep it all year. The colored leaves gradually fall off and you are left with a nice green plant. Right before Christmas I toss it out and buy a new one. They come in different colors like red, pink, and white. Last year's was pink, so this year I got a red one.

Time
I am trying to catch up on reading my favorite blogs. I really missed them. I like playing games on Facebook, but they sure can waste your time. First it was radio and television, then around 1990 internet/e-mail and blogs and Facebook. Life has really changed in the last 20 years. I don't watch much tv or movies like I used to. I don't read as much as I would like. My crafts are not getting crafted. I think some changes need to be made, by me.

Our Anniversary
I forgot to tell you about our wonderful anniversary, which was on Mon. the first. We drove to Amish country. We thought it would be rainy and stormy but the weather was beautiful. We ate at the Der Dutchman and I had salmon.
Then Paul bought me some lovely things.
Note cards and a handkerchief.

Glinda the Good Witch and a kaleidoscope. The lady with the feather is "Abigail 1812" "Pen Pal". She is special, she is a Cameo Girl. There is a place in the top of her head which holds a small vase. I put some artificial flowers in it and it looks like a hat!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I am married to an Irishman. The holiday seems to be centered around going to mass in the morning and partying the rest of the day. I don't care for the drinking and the vulgarity that they seem to enjoy. I love his family. Unfortunately some of them drink too much. Despite this I felt comfortable with them from the first time I met them. I've heard some people say they don't like the Irish. I want to say that most of the Irish people I've met were very nice people. Paul has a very large family and we keep meeting new relatives and there are more we haven't met yet. So here's to the Irish!
A Kerryman was playing Trivial Pursuit. It was his turn. He rolled the dice and landed on "Science & Nature." His question was, "If you are in a vacuum and someone calls your name, can you hear it?" He thought for a time and then asked, "Is it on or off?"

Bible Birthday
Do you realize that the King James 1611 Version of the Bible will be 400 years old in 2 more years? I think that is fantastic! How will we celebrate? I hope by reading it.

On-line Bible
I found the web site for listening to the Bible read by Alexander Scourby. You can only hear one chapter at a time, but it's great. Imagine hearing words and names as they are supposed to be pronounced. You can also read along with him on the site. I hope you like the King James 1611 version. http://www.audio-bible.com

George Foreman Grill
I must say I am very disappointed in the George Foreman Grill. My husband cooked hamburgers for himself on it and he said they came out too greasy. When I went to clean it up there was a huge amount of grease congealed on it which meant that the grease wasn't running off like we expected. Also, it was hard to get it clean because it cannot be put in the sink to soak. I used a lot of paper towels because I didn't want to mess up my good dishcloths. I'm glad he got it on sale and didn't pay full price for it. Next time we'll have to prop up the back legs to allow for more drainage.

Her Ten Commandments
These are the new commandments ten
Which wives now make for married men
These my commands from day to day
Implicitly thou shalt obey.
Depression Era Recipes
Which wives now make for married men
I. Remember that I am thy wife,
Whom thou must cherish all thy life.
II. Thou shalt not stay out late at night
When lodges, friends or clubs invite.
III. Thou shalt not smoke indoor or out,
Or chew tobacco round about.
IV. Thou shalt with praise receive my pies,
Nor pastry made by me despise.
V. My mother thou shalt strive to please,
And let her live with us in ease.
VI. Remember 'tis thy duty clear
To dress me well throughout the year.
VII. Thou shalt not be a drinking man,
But live on prohibition plan.
VIII. Thou shalt in manner mild and meek
Give me thy wages every week.
IX. Thou shalt not flirt, but must allow
Thy wife such freedom anyhow.
X. Thou shalt get up when baby cries,
And try the child to tranquilize.
Whom thou must cherish all thy life.
